SIAN. Okay, it's time to clear all these overdued photos taken at New Mexico and blog about them. I have a total of FOUR days to blog about. Long entry ahead, I suppose.
DAY 1
Here we are at Albuquerque New Mexico, for the first weekend of the Balloon Fiesta.
Our first stop was at Old town then to Sandia Peak World's Longest Tramway for the night viewing and dinner with our friends who is also visiting new mexico.
Sandia Peak World's Longest Tramway next!
Paid $13PP with a restaurant reservation at 8pm with Alice and Simon.
Great tram ride, takes about 15 minutes to get up.
The view was so gorgeous thou we missed the sunset(we reached at 5pm but the tickets q was so long la!), especially at night-nothing beats city lights =P
View is what it is all about up here...
Dinner at the top was ok, but was so pricey =(
DAY 2
We got up very early(4am!) and drove to the balloon fiesta about 30 mins drive...
Da-bao mac breakfast to the fiesta thought we were SMART cos I saw on the forum that the food there is expensive lei(USD$3 for a MILO) but our burgers, harsh browns and our milo turned out COLD lor =X
In the end, Hubby W and I have to buy that pricey MILO cos its really cold in the morning.
Early in the morning they had a glow scheduled, where the balloons would fire their burners so the balloons are lit from the inside and glow against the pre-dawn sky.
There were dozens, probably hundreds, of balloons at the field.
The morning glow ended at abt 11am, we then left the venue for a few hours and went back to our motel for some rest.
Came back in the evening for another glow and a fireworks show.
Have to pay for that $6PP tickets and a $10 parking fee again cos its 2 different events but same venue.
Have our dinner at the fiesta...
The weather wasn't cooperating so not many balloons tried a glow =(
In spite of the high winds, the fireworks went off without a hitch.
DAY 3
We were initially drawn to the museum because Hubby W saw that they had an exhibit on the history of the dinaosours on a advertisement board near the expressway yestererday night, and was so interested to visit it.
So we visited New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in the morning to kill a few hours before heading to White Sands National Monument.
Paid $13 for a 2-combo adult ticket for admission to the museum and the Dyna-Theater IMAX.
Left the museum around 1pm and 3hrs drive to White Sands National Monument.
We drove through the white sands and were amazed at how beautiful it is!
Enjoy the drive through the dunes with the sand piled like snow on each side of the road.
DAY 4
Only two stops today before heading 6hrs back to AZ and that is Rock City State Park and Silver City Musuem.
From a brochure it claims that City of rocks is a very unusual place. There are "stately" stones cast around the land from an ancient volcano.
It looks boring to me la... see nothing but STONES lor so we left the place after 10mins. LOL
